*Mental illness affects 1/4 adults (approx. 61.5 million in U.S.).
*Approx. 14.8 Americans suffer from major depression
*Approx. 60% of adults w/ mental illness receive no help.
*Approx. 50% of all juveniles w/mental illness receive no help.
*Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S.
*Approx. 6.1million people in U.S. suffer from bipolar disorder.
There is a huge need for expanded mental health services in the U.S. Thankfully, we have organizations such as NAMI to fight for these much needed expansions of services.
Not only does NAMI gather information and lobby for improved mental health services, they are also a great support system for those suffering from mental illness.
